In June 2018, the La Grace Logope Savings Group was set up by Esso Akomahou. Esso had previously benefitted from a loan from IADES and she decided to create this group so that she could provide microloans for her community. They live in Agoe Logope, a peri-urban area situated in the north of the city Lomé, the capital of Togo.
The group has grown over the last couple of months and now has 22 members. Eight women in the group have already received loans from Deki and sixteen are applying for their very first loans.
One of the key reasons behind the formation of the group was so that they could receive the training sessions from IADES and so be better-equipped to successfully manage their businesses.
With microloans and training, women in the La Grace Logope group hope to develop their businesses. Successful businesses mean becoming financially independent and a sustainable livelihood to support their families for the future.
